Outlook Express Setup

There are many ways to start Outlook Express, but here's a sure-fire way to find and start it.
  1. Click the Start button.
  2. Click on All Programs
  3. Finally, click on Outlook Express
Next, you will be prompted to decide whether to make Outlook Express your default mail client. If you choose Yes, Outlook Express will automatically be chosen by other Windows programs to read and write email.

We recommend that you uncheck the box "Always perform this check..." and click the Yes button.
Since Outlook Express directs all incoming mail to your Inbox, it makes sense to make the Inbox your starting point. To do this, check the box for "When Outlook Express starts, go directly to my Inbox." The lower arrow in the graphic to the right points to this selection.

Now it is time to create your email account. Before we go forward, make sure you have obtained the following information from I20Access:
  1. Your email username (eg. someone@i20a.com)
  2. Your email password (provided by I20Access)
  3. Your incoming email server (mail.i20a.com)
  4. Your outgoing email server (mail.i20a.com)
There are two ways to create your email account. The first method is to click on "Set up a Mail account" as pointed to by upper arrow on graphic to the right. This method employs a wizard to setup your account. Instead, we recommend clicking on Tools on the menu and choose Accounts from the drop-down menu.
Click on the Add button, then choose Mail from drop-down list.

On the Your Name window, you will be asked for your "Display Name." Enter the name that you want to appear on each email you send. Most people use their full name, but you may use any name you choose, even a nickname that people will recognize. Click Next .

The next window is labeled Internet E-Mail Address. Simply enter your email address as assigned by I20Access, for example, yourname@i20a.com. Click Next for the next window.
Now the window is labeled E-mail Server Names.

Leave POP3 as the incoming mail server.

Both the incoming mail server and outgoing mail server should be entered as mail.i20a.com. See the graphic at the right for the correct entries.

Of course, click Next.
You are almost done! You will be taken to the Internet Mail Logon. Here you will enter the account name and password assigned to you by I20Access.

See the example at the left. The password will be displayed as dots to prevent someone from easily detecting it.

If you do not want to type your password in each time you read or write email leave the box checked for "Remember password."

Click Next and then Finish . That's it you are done. You can quickly check your account by sending yourself an email.
