Outlook Express as an email client option. Windows Mail is shipped
with Vista. Here is a step-b-step tutorial designed to get you up and running with Windows Mail. First be sure you have:
| You will be taken to the Internet Accounts window. Since we are creating a new email account, click on Add to progress to the next window. |
| It is time to provide your name. The name you provide for your "Display name:" is the name that will appear on e-mails that you send. Typically, you would provide your real name, but for a less formal account you could use a nickname. Click Next to continue. |
The following window prompts you to provide your Internet E-mail
Address. This is the e-mail address given to you by I20Access.
It will have the form, yourname@i20a.com Click Next to continue. |
Windows Mail needs to know which mail servers to get mail from and
to send mail through. The incoming mail server is a POP3 server
and its name is mail.i20a.com The outgoing (SMTP) mail server is also named mail.i20a.com Be sure to select the box to indicate that the "Outgoing server requires authentication." This means that the outgoing server checks your username and password to verify that it is really you sending the e-mail. Click Next to continue. |
To retreive mail from mail.i20a.com, Windows Mail will need your
full e-mail address. Note that your password is case-sensitive.
Select "Remember password" to prevent having to type your password everytime you check for new mail. The E-mail username and password will be provided by I20Access. Again click Next to continue. |
Once all of the above information has been provided, Windows Mail is
ready to handle your incoming and outgoing e-mail. You may start
using it immediately. Click Finish to start using Windows Mail. |
